Nominations for the EDDA Awards, the annual Icelandic film and TV awards have been announced.

Come to Harm received 4 nominations:

‘Best leading actor’ (Björn Thors)

Shot on 16mm, the concrete landscape of contemporary Reykjavik provides the setting for the short thriller (18 mins), which tells the story of Stefán, whose life is slipping into turmoil. When he senses an intruder in his home, panic quickly turns to grim determination as he arms himself for the inevitable confrontation.

Come to Harm is up against feature films in all categories except ‘best short film’ which makes the honour all the more flattering. The awards will be broadcast live on national television on the 18th of February. Stay tuned.

We are thrilled to announce that Director/Writer Joanna Hogg’s film “Archipelago” has been shortlisted for Best Film at the London Evening Standard British Film Awards. This film has already won a special commendation at the London Film Festival, where the jury highlighted how sophisticated and visually beautiful the film was and also gave credit to the truthful performances.

Shot in the remote Isles of Scilly and starring Tom Hiddleston, this is a brilliant companion piece to director Joanna Hogg’s award winning debut film “Unrelated”. Tom Hiddleston has also been shortlisted for Best Actor.

The awards are held on Feburary 6th.

We look forward to Magni’s critically acclaimed Detective Drama Wallander for the BBC. Shot on two Alexa cameras, on location in Ystad Sweden and starring Kenneth Branagh as the Swedish inspector, this is due to be aired later this year.

August Jakobsson is currently shooting Iceland’s first sci-fi horror movie FROST for director Reynir Lyngdal.
Filming on the Langjokull glacier, weather conditions are certainly harsh with constant snow storms and temperatures dropping to minus 20!

Shooting on the Alexa, “Frost” tells a story of a young couple who form part of an expedition, one a supervisor the other shooting a video of the trip. They wake to find their co-workers gone. Screams, undefined cracks and strange lights from an unknown source are to follow…
