LUKE PALMER SHOOTS CLOSING CEREMONY “BOOK OF FIRE”

Shoots closing ceremony "Book of Fire"

TITLE – “THE BOOK OF FIRE”
DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY – LUKE PALMER
DIRECTOR – MIKE CHRISTIE
PROD CO – CHRISTIE HQ

Just in-case you missed it – take a peek at this fabulously epic short film called “The Book of Fire” which was shown at the The Paralympics closing ceremony this week.
Directed by Mike Christie for Christie HQ and Shot on 2 x Alexa High Speed , the new Canon 5D mk3 and GoPro cameras, Luke has achieved a stunning feel here on this logistically challenging shoot.

Production was given special permission by Ford Dagenham to use one of their private 2 lane roads for the convergence scene at no cost as they were so pro the Paralympics movement!
They were also the only film crew ever to have been given permission to film on the roof of The Royal Greenwich Observatory for the opening “Conductor” sequence. Again showing tremendous support for the Paralympics.

The Mutoid Waste Company were responsible for building the 15 strong vehicle column stretching over 500 yards –which were all individually transported and crewed with drivers and 100 plus cast.
And all of this done under much secrecy as none of the public were allowed to see these crazy vehicles before the ceremony – even though they were shooting in the busy streets of London!

We think Luke has done an amazing job…

More than simply a film chronicling the UEFA EURO 2012 Championship, this concept is a unique experience in it’s own right. Different thematic elements of the tournament are explored in a suite of bespoke cinematic musical movements, which combine to create a beautiful symphony of imagery, music and sound.
